CHEERLEADING VICTORIA "OUTLAWS" BRING BACK THE GOLD TO AUSTRALIA

Our wonderful Outlaws have just returned from competing in the USASF New Zealand All Star Internationals held 29th October 06 in Auckland.

With 70+ All Star cheerleaders comprising of 4 teams, Cheerleading Victoria's "Outlaws" (members of the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) competed against over 500 of the best All Star cheerleaders New Zealand has to offer and managed to score the following trophies:

  • Shooting Star Division: 1st Place Pee Wee Outlaws

  • Division 2: 1st Place Junior Outlaws

  • All Star Tumble Challenge: 1st Place  Australian Outlaws

  • Division 1: 1st Place Teen Outlaws

  • All Star Open Cheer (All Girl & Co-ed teams combined): 2nd Place & 1st Place out of all Co-ed teams: Australian Outlaws

  • All Star Junior Pom: 2nd Place Junior Outlaws & 3rd Place Pee Wee Outlaws

  • All Star Senior Pom: 1st Place Teen Outlaws & 2nd Place Australian Outlaws

We think the Channel 3 news coverage in Auckland, Sunday evening summed it up best when they started the coverage with “The Inaugural NZ All Star Cheer Internationals were held today with the Australian teams coming across to try and grab some of the silverware and ended up reigning supreme”,  taking home 9 of the major division trophies.

To have such a complete victory against the NZ teams was huge for Cheerleading Victoria; NZ have competed against Australian cheerleading squads for the last 2 years and NZ have cleaned up every time leaving Australian squads a little sad and sorry. With our 4 squads comprising of over 70 athletes, we managed to gain titles that NZ had over the other Australian cheerleaders which thus puts Australia back on top. This is a testament to the level of the AASCF Coaching staff and Student Levels Program which Cheerleading Victoria subscribes to.

Our wins are great for Australian Cheerleading and also great for our preparation for the 2007 USASF Cheerleading Worlds where we will be competing against 35 different countries.

Thank you to New Zealand, all our athletes and their families had a fantastic time at this very well run competition. Well done to Kimberley and all her staff and all of the talented NZ cheerleaders who made us feel so welcome and we look forward to your company on our trip to the Worlds in 2007 where we will be Anzacs together.
